Overview of Dogs2Vets Program

"I have found that when you are deeply troubled, there are things you get from the silent devoted companionship of a dog that you can get from no other source."—Doris Day

Clear Path offers 3 dog programs: Service Dog Program, Companion Dog Program and our Family Dog Program. Please read the brief descriptions of each program below. If you are interested in applying for any, please click on the link for more information and qualifications.

1. Service Dog Program (Dogs2Vets)
Designed to provide professional support, instruction and advocacy for veterans with a disability rating for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) or military sexual trauma (MST) and who are committed to training their own psychiatric service dog. We provide ongoing, individualized professional instruction and guidance at no cost to the veteran. The program takes at least a year to complete. Note: Most dogs in the program are handpicked from shelters/rescues.

2. Trained Companion Dog Program
Developed for veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) or military sexual trauma (MST) who do not have a disability rating (or do not wish to seek one) but who believe they would benefit from having a well-trained companion dog. The basic training is similar to that taught in the service dog program but does not include public access or disability-specific training. Note: Vets wanting to train their personally owned dog as a service dog would have to complete this program before being considered for entry into the service dog program.

3. Family Dog Program
This is an open class setting designed for veterans, military and families who wish to learn basic training techniques to use with their dog. Topics included are relationship building, body work, basic commands and loose leash walking all in a positive reinforcement environment. Note: We do not work with dogs that have significant aggression problems
